Delta Locum Tenens Supports the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact

Delta Locum Tenens (DLT), a leading staffing firm for healthcare professionals nationwide, has announced its advocacy and support for the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC). The Federation of State Medical Boards created the IMLC to provide a direct way for qualifying physicians to practice in multiple states, thereby expediting the existing process for obtaining licensure outside of their state of principal licensure. Healthcare facilities, patients, and entire communities will also benefit from the increased access to more providers and medical specialties.

Many of the providers working with DLT qualify for IMLC’s streamlined multistate medical license process. In most cases, this will provide DLT the ability to activate a license as quick as two weeks with a single application. Under the IMLC, DLT can connect providers with more opportunities, and offer more scheduling flexibility and greater travel selection. “A lot of the providers who work with DLT will benefit from the progressive stance the IMLC offers,” said Anne Schilling, a Principal Recruiter for Delta Locum Tenens. “With the rise of telemedicine, and the growing demand for locum tenens providers and advanced practitioner healthcare professionals, IMLC is a reflection of the times. DLT is excited about the opportunities this compact offers to our healthcare professionals and clients.”

The IMLC is an agreement between 19 states, and to date, the states accepting lMLC licensure are Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Those states with membership in progress are Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Utah. In addition, legislation has been introduced for the following states as well, Georgia, Michigan, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Washington State, and Washington, D.C.
